How We Recruit

Your path to becoming a Next Trainee starts right here with an online application. If you make it through this stage there’s a further four stages to go through and the whole process can take around 3-4 months (our hugely popular Trainee Buyer scheme may take longer at certain times). It may seem like a long time but don’t worry our dedicated recruitment team will keep you regularly updated on how your application is progressing.

Online Ability Testing

Within three weeks of applying you’ll receive an email inviting you to complete a series of online tests. Depending on whether you apply to be a Trainee Merchandiser or a Trainee Buyer, you’ll complete either a verbal and/or numerical reasoning test.

Video Interview

We’ll let you know by email if you passed the online tests. Then you’ll be invited to take a video interview, where we ask you to record yourself answering some questions we send you. You’ll have five days to complete this stage and we’ll review the video over the next 4-8 weeks.

In-Depth Analysis

If you impress us with your video interview, we’ll be in touch to arrange a telephone interview with one of our Buying or Merchandising Teams. We hold these interview sessions every eight weeks and they usually last around 30 minutes.

Assessment Centre

If you’ve made it this far you’re just one last step away from joining the team! That step will be an invitation to attend a half day assessment centre at Head Office. We hold these sessions frequently through the year, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long. If you’re successful on the day we’ll quickly be getting in touch to say congratulations!
