## Description

**The Role**:

As our Tax Reporting & Compliance Controller, you’ll play a central role in leading the Group’s UK and international tax reporting and compliance activities. Based at our Head Office in Enderby, Leicestershire, and reporting directly to the Head of Tax, you’ll lead, develop and mentor a high performing team while working closely with colleagues across the wider Group Finance function. You will make a real difference by providing vital technical expertise, driving process automation, and ensuring NEXT maintains robust tax governance in an increasingly complex regulatory environment. We’ll give you the space, support and platform to broaden your leadership capability while making a meaningful impact across our business.

**What You'll Take On:**

 - Lead the preparation and review of Group tax reporting under IFRS, including current and deferred tax provisions, ETR calculations, and Annual Report disclosures.

 - Oversee UK and international corporate tax compliance, managing corporate tax returns, forecasts, budgets, and quarterly instalment payments.

 - Guide indirect tax activities, reviewing UK and Irish VAT returns, PESM calculations, SDLT, CIS, and coordinating overseas filings.

 - Oversee the customs team to maintain strict compliance with import declarations, commodity classifications, and origin documentation.

 - Drive continuous improvement by standardising and automating tax processes, exploring emerging technologies and AI to boost accuracy and efficiency.

 - Ensure robust tax governance and financial controls across the business, supporting SAO compliance and leading responses to HMRC enquiries and external audits.

**What You'll Bring:**

 - A CTA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional tax qualification alongside a strong background in tax reporting and compliance within a multinational or listed environment.

 - Deep knowledge of UK taxes - including corporation tax, VAT, and customs duties - plus a solid grasp of international tax compliance.

 - Proven experience leading, developing and motivating high-performing tax teams.

 - Excellent business partnering skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-tax stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.

 - Exceptional organisation, sharp analytical skills and the confidence to handle busy reporting cycles and multiple deadlines smoothly.

 - A collaborative, ambitious mindset with a proactive passion for continuous improvement and modernising tax operations.
