We're sorry that you're having trouble using Next Careers. If you still have any questions you should be able to find all the answers you’re looking for right here.

How long does the application process take?

Once you’ve made your application, you’ll receive an automatic acknowledgement and we’ll be in touch as soon as possible to let you know what happens next. Depending on the sort of role you’ve applied for the whole process could take anywhere between 2 to 8 weeks.

If you’re applying for a Trainee position then you’ll have to complete an online application and then – if you’re successful – there are four more stages. Generally the whole process can take 3 to 4 months, but our Trainee programmes are hugely popular so it may sometimes take longer.

What is the interview process?

Depending on what type of role you’ve applied for this can vary. But don’t worry, our Recruitment Team will talk you through every step and make sure you’re ready for each stage.

When will I find out the outcome of my interview?

Firstly, we’ll contact you by email to let you know we’ve received your application. We then try to let you know the decision as soon as possible – which, in busy recruitment times, can be up to 2 weeks after the closing date for that role. And remember to check your email junk settings to make sure our email hasn’t ended up there by mistake.

Why have I not heard about my application?

We try to respond to as many applications as we can, but in busy times this isn’t always possible. So, if you’ve not heard from us within 2 weeks after the closing date of the application we’re afraid that means your application hasn’t been successful. (Remember though to keep an eye on your email’s junk folder, to make sure our response hasn’t ended up in there.)

If you’re applying for our Trainee schemes and have submitted your video interview then it could take up to 8 weeks for our team to review all the applications – don’t worry though, we’ll be in touch as soon as we have any news.

I passed the online test but wasn’t offered an interview, can I apply for the same role?

You can and you can reapply straight away too for most roles however for Trainee and our Call Centre positions you must wait 6 months before you can.

Why wasn’t I offered a telephone interview or assessment, even though I passed the online test?

Everyone who passes the online test will then have their applications reviewed by our Recruitment Team. And because we have to exactly match the right applicant to each role – and with up to 50 applicants for every role at times – it’s not possible for us to progress everyone to the next stage.

What we’d recommend is to subscribe to our RSS alerts so you can be amongst the first to hear about new roles – roles that might be a much better match for your skills.

Can I reapply for the Trainee scheme if I’ve already been unsuccessful?

You can reapply for the same Trainee scheme again, but only after 6 months. If there was a different Trainee scheme you were interested in you can apply for that right away.

Will I be given feedback on my application?

Unfortunately we can only offer feedback if you’ve made it through to either a telephone interview or assessment stage.

How long does it take to get feedback about my interview?

This can vary depending on what kind of role you’re applying for, but your Recruitment Team will let you know all the timescales at every stage of the process.

Why didn’t I have to complete an online test?

If you’ve already completed the test within the last 12 months – and you’re applying for the same sort of role – then we won’t ask you to complete it again.

What should I do if I have a problem with my application?

Get in touch with our Recruitment Team by filling in the form below, telling us as much as possible about the issues you’re having. We’ll then do all we can to help you find the solution as quickly as possible.

Can I change the details on my application?

You can change your basic personal details by logging in and going to 'My Account', however application details once submitted cannot be changed unfortunately so its very important you check your details before submitting!

Can I withdraw my application even if I’ve already submitted it?

Yes, you can withdraw your application online if you would no longer like to be considered for the role. Sign in using your email address and password, then access your account by clicking the top right hand button and choose “My Account”.

Choose “My Applications” and select the job you wish to withdraw from, and click “Withdraw”.

Can I change my mind after I’ve withdrawn an application?

Absolutely. If you’ve made the initial application in the last 6 months simply get in touch with our Recruitment Team using the below form if the vacancy is still open. However, if the initial application was longer than 6 months ago you’ll have to reapply.

What do I do if I’ve applied for the wrong role?

If you accidentally applied for the wrong position, you will need to withdraw your application in the “My Account” screen, by clicking on the top right hand button. You will need to be signed in to do this.

You will then need to apply for the correct role.

Can I use the same application form to apply for a different role at Next?

Yes. A lot of your details will already be stored and you can review and update as you save and proceed.

The website says my online test is incomplete even though I’ve finished it

Don’t worry, all you have to do is login find the vacancy and apply again to get to the test to complete it.

I exited the test before I completed it, can I carry on where I left off?

If you haven't submitted the application, you can go to the vacancy and apply from the beginning.

I’ve already got a holiday booked, will this affect my application?

Training is such an important part of helping our new starters get to know their new team and role, so it’s important that you’re available to attend all your induction sessions. Any dates that fall outside of this can be discussed with your new manager once you start.

How soon will I start if I’m offered a role?

It’s hard to say for sure, because your start date will depend on your availability and notice period, as well as what your new team and the wider business needs. Our Recruitment Team will work with you to sort out the best possible start date for everyone.

When will I receive my contract?

One of our Recruitment Team will talk you through your offer. Then, if you’re happy with what we’ve offered, your new contract should arrive through the post or online within 1-2 days.

What happens if I’ve been offered a role, but there are no shifts available?

Don’t worry, we’ll be in touch as soon as the shifts that suit you become available.

When will my references be requested?

We’ll only contact your referees once we’ve made you a formal offer and received your acceptance. Remember though that any offer is still subject to us receiving suitable references.

Will I have to be credit checked?

For some roles, Yes. Because of the sensitive data we work with at Next we need to credit check all new employees.

What documents do I need to evidence my right to work?

A full list of what is acceptable can be found here for UK and here for Ireland.

We cannot offer you a role without seeing proof of your right to work
