Summary

The Role
Step into the role of Assistant Designer - Knitwear here at Joules Head Office within our friendly and creative Womenswear Design Team.

Responsible for supporting the creation and development of seasonal design ranges across Womenswear Knitwear, balancing creative and commercial needs to deliver against the Concept brief.

Working Pattern: This is a full time position based at ‘The Barn’ - Joules’ purpose built Head Office in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. The typical hours for this role are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and this is an onsite role.

Market Harborough in Leicestershire, is where Joules began in 1989. This market town is home to the brand’s Head Office and is full of independent shops, bars and restaurants. It also benefits from good transport links to London, making it easily accessible for visitors and commuters alike.


What You’ll Do
Working on multiple knitwear products across Womenswear, you can expect varied and exciting projects to work on within a department that has full support and enthusiasm from management in terms of the bigger picture.
Assist in the creation of a broad variety of styles that creatively respond to a brief, embracing a commercial eye and a think outside of the box approach.

-You will support and assist the Designer/Senior Designer in developing, progressing & managing a profitable department across stores and online.

-Prepare for Design meetings, taking responsibility for racking up product and preparing mood and research boards.

-Drive the creation of trends appropriate to the season and end use.

-Contribute to the decision-making, supporting your ideas with inspirational images and/or samples.

-Prepare for and present seasonal Touch Point & CAD presentations for specific product areas.

-Analyse weekly line performance reports in advance of attending departmental trade meetings taking necessary action.

-Use analysis provided by the Merchandising team in order to inform development of future product, discussing with the manager if any further information is required.

-Prepare for and attend sign-off meetings with senior management.

-Attend fit sessions ensuring artwork, garment fit and embellishment are correct.

-Proactively drive obtaining research and inspiration through analysis of competitor shops, fashion blogs and trend resources.

-Ensure samples are ready with correct information/CADS, alongside the Buying Team.


What You’ll Bring
To really shine within the role of Assistant Designer you must be able to work flexibly and at pace with an eye for colour and trend.

From a technical and operational perspective, it would also be advantageous if you have:
- A knitwear degree or relevant qualification in knitwear.
- Strong Illustrator skills.
- Demonstrable technical garment/fabric knowledge.
- Demonstrates accountability to deliver within role and drive the right results.
- Proactive, vibrant and spirited and rises to challenges.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Thinks above and beyond role.
- A passion for the Joules brand & understanding of the Joules customer and their lifestyle.
