Summary

We are looking for an eCommerce Trading Trainee to join our eCommerce Menswear team. Based from Next Head Office in Enderby, Leicestershire!

About the role

Our eCommerce Trading teams make changes to the next websites daily to ensure it exceeds customers expectations and is reflective of current sales and trends. Our online trading teams also suggest and drive forward improvements to the site to ensure that our customer experience is constantly improving and is better than the competition.


As a Trading Trainee you will focus on growing Menswear sales across our UK website as well as working on onsite marketing support. In this 12-18 month trainee programme you will be given the tools and support to develop your commercial Trading skills, with the view of progressing into a Trading Assistant position at the end of the programme.

Your role as a Trainee in the Menswear team will be ensuring that the website reflects both current sales and future sales opportunities. You will work closely with our internal teams and Menswear product teams to ensure that we showcase the latest trends and best selling items both on the website (homepage and links in the navigation) but also in our marketing (emails and adverts) to customers.

What you’ll take on

  • Learn to continually review how we promote Menswear products across all our websites and other marketing platforms.
  • We will support you to gain exceptional knowledge of search, navigation and commercial layout to make sure our online offering is always the best around.
  • Support the Menswear Trading Manager and wider online team with product and project launches.
  • Learn to analyse sales, finding opportunities to further enhance the website and maximise sales.
  • Identify ways to improve the findability of products on our websites.
  • You will learn to optimise the online customer journey, determining the right products and content to get customers through the shopping journey as quickly as possible whilst maximising average order value.
  • Work with the Menswear product teams to suggest and drive forward strong product imagery for homepages, emails and marketing that best reflect sales and trends.
  • Work to create and maintain the marketing plan and ensure it is executed on time.
  • Identify, implement and drive improvements through your insights.
  • Strive to make NEXT a market leader.

What you’ll bring

This is a trainee programme where we will support and train you on key online metrics, so therefore no eCommerce / online trading experience is necessary. However we would love you to have..

  • A passion for eCommerce, Fashion or Retail.
  • Analytical and the ability to analyse and understand data.
  • Collaborative team player who enjoys working with a variety of teams.
  • Strong communicator who can translate data and trends into clear, actionable suggestions for the wider team.
  • A fast learner who is eager to embrace new technologies.
  • An eye for detail to ensure our website content and product listings are always accurate.
  • Commercially minded with an interest in what makes customers click and buy.
  • Adaptable and flexible, comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to use your initiative when faced with a challenge.
