Summary
As a Creative Developer at NEXT, you’ll do more than just report on data; you’ll act as an engineer dedicated to driving and improving workflow efficiency across our Digital Asset Management (DAM) & Image Services department. Working from our Enderby office with remote flexibility, you will use your analytical and creative skills to build solutions that extract insights from complex data sets. You’ll collaborate closely with our Development Team Lead and the wider creative team to ensure our bespoke applications and photo studio operations run at peak performance. At NEXT, we are committed to your growth; you’ll benefit from regular one-to-ones and performance reviews within a clear framework designed to help you evolve and never stand still.
What You’ll Take On
- Engineer Efficiency: Actively maintain and develop bespoke operational applications and databases, specifically engineering new ways to improve data validity and workflow reliability.
- Azure DevOps Integration: Move beyond basic support by managing specific Azure DevOps tasks, including pushing and merging Git commits to streamline our development pipeline.
- Visualise Insights: Create UX/UI proof-of-concept wireframes and develop high-impact data visualisations that make complex information easily understandable for stakeholders.
- System Evolution: Create, audit, and improve systems to meet project needs, ensuring all data sources are consistent and deliverable for reporting.
- Collaborative Support: Partner with internal business users and external suppliers to troubleshoot issues and ensure project alignment through professional, clear communication.
- Technical Documentation: Author and maintain key operational documentation to ensure departmental knowledge is shared and accessible.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience with workflows and automation—primarily within a production or photo studio environment—is essential.
- You should possess technical proficiency in FileMaker/Claris, AppleScript, or Asana, along with a solid understanding of APIs and post-production processes.
- Proven experience in a software development role with extensive experience in Python, SQL, and MySQL.
- Proficiency with data-centric tools like Power BI, or Google Data Studio to manipulate data into business-critical reporting.
- The ability to translate technical concepts for non-tech stakeholders, ensuring everyone stays aligned on project aims.
- JavaScript experience is also highly beneficial for building modern front-end interfaces for our FileMaker back-end systems. Solid experience in other languages would be highly desirable
- The strength to plan and prioritise a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment while keeping an open mind about change.
